CodeCommit for your whole team, without handing out AWS logins.
Invite reviewers, contractors and the rest of your team by email. They browse code and review pull requests across every AWS account and region you connect, in an interface that works like classic GitHub. Your code stays in your AWS account.
Connect with one CloudFormation click. Delete the stack to revoke.
What the AWS console doesn't do.
CodeCommit keeps your Git repositories private, inside your own AWS account, behind IAM and in your CloudTrail. AWS reopened it to new customers in November 2025. The console can browse and review, one account and one person at a time. GitClassic is for the whole team.
Access by invitation, not IAM
In the console, every reviewer needs an IAM user or SSO identity, console permissions and MFA, in each account. Here, a workspace owner invites them by email. Everyone still shows up by name in CloudTrail and CodeCommit.
Every account and region at once
The console shows one account and one region at a time. GitClassic lists every repository and every open pull request across the accounts you connect, with no switching roles or regions.
An email when it's your turn
Hear about it when someone asks for your review, comments on your pull request, approves it or merges it. In CodeCommit alone, that means setting up SNS topics and rules yourself.
Everything else works the way you'd expect.
Code, history and diffs
Files with syntax highlighting, rendered READMEs, history for each branch and each file, and the full diff of every commit.
Pull request review
Comment on any line, request reviews, approve, and merge by fast-forward, squash or three-way merge, within your approval rules.
Edit in the browser
Change a file, add one or delete one, then commit straight to the branch or to a new branch with a pull request. Create repositories too.
Issues and boards, in your account
Track work with issues, labels and assignees, and move it across a board. They're kept in a DynamoDB table in your own AWS account, not with us.
Your code stays in your account
Files are read through the CodeCommit API when you open them and sent to your browser. GitClassic never stores file contents, diffs or comments.
Protected branches, enforced by AWS
Name the branches that only change through pull requests, and IAM itself refuses direct commits to them.
Made for
- Agencies and consultancies working in their clients' AWS accounts: every client's repositories in one place, and no extra IAM users in anyone's account.
- Teams that keep everything in AWS, for compliance or by policy, and miss how GitHub felt.
- Teams where not everyone writes code: product people, QA and approvers who review and sign off without an AWS login.
Connecting takes a couple of minutes.
- 1
Sign in with your email. No passwords: we send a code and a link.
- 2
Create a workspace and add your AWS account. GitClassic opens CloudFormation with a read-only role filled in. You review it there and click Create stack.
- 3
Invite your team. To review and merge pull requests, edit files and create repositories from GitClassic, add the optional editor role the same way.
Free for one AWS account and up to 3 people. Team is $29 a month per workspace, with unlimited people. Pricing.
